 Added some pictures (thanks youvan), but also got good ones yet to be uploaded. Removed the "ti pima" section to get rid of some misunderstanding in the head of some ppl.. Sinon, i'd like to add book lists and interesting links too, but that will have to wait for some days.. Pou linstant, focus still lors film, music, politik etc..

News: Back home! Barcelona was exciting, Montpellier relaxing, Paris hectic and now Mauritius just divine.

Cinema: Papa with Alain Chabat is the touching story of a father and his son. The story is simple, the actors subtle and the overall effect very good. 8/10
Les Poupees Russes. The much awaited sequel of L'auberge espagnole delivers the goods. The subject here is quite different and the film stands on its own. The Klapisch-Duris chemistry is as magical as ever. 8/10
Batman Begins being a Christopher Nolan film it could not have been all bad. Dark and realistic ( enfin, as realistic as u can be abt batman) the movie explores the reasons behind the the superhero's existence. Good entertainment with an excellent cast of second roles. 7.5/10
Politik: Now that i am here i can grasp better the reality of the election. What struck me was the extreme diversity of opinions and interpretations that can hide behind the apparent common feeling of disillusion with the system.

June 13 Week 4: Iron Lion ZionPerso: Holidays, at last! ....l'esprit libre et le coeur léger... No cinema this week, but am probably going to see "l'interprète" (sean penn) and "papa" (chabat) en attendant "les poupée russes" ( la suite de "l'auberge espagnole") et "batman" mercredi... Will update this section soon. ( n tell u more abt tonite's shivaree concert) Theatre: saw some interesting plays those past days: Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" played by a british troop. The cast included the brillant Ralph Fiennes as Marc Anthony. The play is all about power, politics, war, the dividing line between tyranny and democracy and has a special resonnance in today's world. This was enhanced by the modern "mise en scene". The actors were great and well, Shakespeare is Shakespeare. Note : 9/10 Also saw Ionesco's "Le roi se meurt" with Michel Bouquet in the role which won him the 2005 Molière award. I was only half-impressed. On thursday i watched a free play at the Ecole des Beaux Arts performed by students there. The intellectual and artistic research was obvious, maybe too obvious. Very often simplicity does the job. 6/10 for both. Books: I'm trying to get myself back to reading and have so much to catch up. In the perspective of my studies next year i'm now keen to discover more about philosophy. "Le Discours de la Méthode" by Descartes has proved to be a good starter. It is clear, logic and has been at the foundation of the Age of Reason for our whole civilisation. I was flabbergasted by the power and simplicity of the logic behind the famous Cogito Ergo Sum ("Je pense donc je suis"). 8/10. Whatever the legal flaws of this decision, I think it really is a good thing for the progress of the mauritian system. Sometimes only a big kick in the backside can prompt the powerful ones to react. ( Prévert) June 06 Week 3 : Diamonds on the (Outside)Perso: one last paper left, and then am done with exams, with 2nd year and with law.. "Aujourd'hui est le premier jour du reste de ma vie" Cinema: Film of the week: Sin City by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller. Inspired from Miller's cult comics, this is pure entertainment in black and white. Welcome to Basin City, home-town of sadism, corruption and violence. The bishop is a cannibal, the prostitutes are martial art experts, (nearly) all cops are corrupted and testicle-cutting is a national sport. The movie, which owes much to virtual graphics, is real slick. Creepy angle shots are followed by close-ups of terror, with some sublime views of the city in the background. No wonder Quentin Tarantino guest-directed one of its scenes: we are in the bewitching world of the noir... However Sin City doesn't match up with noir masterpieces, or even Pulp Fiction. While the noir movie is made up of sharp and short dialogues, this movie is way too talkative. Sin City is sentimental under its mask of cynism, whereas the films noirs are poetic and full of romantic fatalism. It is explicit where it could have been suggestive. The film lacks a soul of its own, and might be seen by the more demanding spectators as nothing more than the fantasies of a boy who is not done yet with puberty. But if you are willing to close an eye on this, then surely you will like the film, with its cast of top actors (willis, rourke, del toro, madsen, elijah wood, rosario dawson and clive owen all deliver the goods...), its never-ending action, sexy girls and masochist machos. You saw it? tell me what you think... I love its style, so it enters my top 10 ( see left). Politik: La connerie de la semaine est à mettre à l'actif de mukeshwar choonee, qui a dit dans un meeting privé: "selection cadets-scouts-fire p zouer contre dodo. Nou dir dodo alle dodo!" Des propos bassement communalistes qui n'ont aucune sorte de légitimité quand on sait que Choonee a lui meme été au gouvernement lors de l'Illovo deal. Rien n'est encore joué, mais si vous voulez mon avis, leur stratégie basée sur l'épiderme de bérenger n'est pas étranger à cette remontée. Pendant ce temps des membres du VOH font irruption au MGI, malmenent la directrice de l'exposition d'art et tentent d'enlever un tableau qui ne correspond pas à leur vision faussement traditionaliste de la déesse Kali. Seront-ils inquiétés par les autorités? Sans doute pas, puisqu'apres tout on aura besoin de leur soutien et de leurs votes.. Pour combien de temps cela va-t-il durer? : rien de mieux apres une journée d'examens.. En première partie, Lozano ("le plus connu des artistes inconnus") , le temps que la salle se remplisse et que Khavi achète sa bierre.. Et voilà les 10 magiciens on stage. Du pur bonheur! Banla kone met l'ambiance! Fidels à leurs habitudes, on les retrouve déchainés, droles et subversifs à souhait.. C'est l'hystérie dans le public pour le tube "Tout le bonheur du monde".. et le même public qui s'assied en silence pour un "Marlène" (Noir désir) inoubliable, le briquet à la main.. " Jammin'" de bob marley aura aussi été un des moments phares de la soirée, tout comme "La Mauvaise Réputation", reprise en choeur!!
